Exam success for our staff

Well done to all of our staff who have successfully passed their City & Guilds Diplomas in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening – and good luck to the ones who are on the finishing straight!

This will mean we are able to offer a more comprehensive service to our patients, with greater opportunity to screen those suffering from diabetes, and we’re thrilled so many staff have taken part in the training, which has entailed some travelling for each of them, in order to take exams.

So far, Alison Horner, optical assistant at Tamworth, her practice manager, Janice Sadler, and dispensing optician Margaret Norris have come through with flying colours, whilst optical assistant, Debbie Freakley and Rose Newman, optical assistant at Lichfield, are nearly over the line too.

Best of luck to our dispensing opticians, Beth Ryder, from Burntwood and Tim Tyler-Fantom from Lichfield, who can see the end is in sight.

We’re firm believers in supporting our staff through extra training and qualifications, and would like to say well done to our City and Guilds team for all of their hard work.

We look forward to bringing you news of other training successes in the near future.

Big savings on big names at our open days

We’re looking ahead to better weather – as we’re sure most of us are! - so why not join us for the Spring events at our Aldridge and Lichfield branches? We’re planning some great bargains…

Aldridge is hosting a two-day event next Friday and Saturday (20th and 21st) which will be a wonderful time to pick up some designer eyewear at a great rate.

Our full ranges of Police, Silhouette (pictured left) and Givency frames will be on display – both sunspecs and ordinary spectacles – with 20% off all orders placed on the weekend. That adds up to some great savings.

We will also be having a free prize draw, so please come along and join us if you can.

Lichfield practice is having an event a week later, on April 27^th and 28^th, which will offer our patients another great opportunity to pick up some great new spectacles at a bargain price.

 

Open days and some great savings coming up

The run up to Christmas is always a really busy time – and expensive. Which is why we have some dates to put in your diary now, which will also help you save cash.

Our Ward End practice is holding two blue cross days on Friday, November 4 and Saturday 5^th, with 20% off all orders made during the two days, except for eye tests and contact lenses.

Our recent blue cross sale at Lichfield went really well, and we are hoping for a repeat performance!

That same weekend, we are also celebrating our spectacular autumn collection at Great Barr, when we will be offering 20% off all orders placed on the two days.

You will be able to see our full range of Lulu Guinness, Ted Baker, Morgan, Chique and Davidoff, and have the chance to win a pair of designer sunspecs with a free prize draw.

If you are in Rugeley that weekend, you can really cheer up your Guy Fawkes night by saving 20% on all orders made on Friday 4^th and Saturday 5^th.

The practice is holding a Winter Sparkle event, and will be showing off its full range of Christian Lacroix, Silhouette,Gucci, Emporio Armani and Anna Sui. They too will be holding a free prize draw, and the chance to win a pair of designer sunspecs.

And there’s even more winter sparkle at our Tamworth practice on November 25 and 26, with a further 20% off all orders placed on the Friday and Saturday , excluding eye tests and contact lenses.

The full new ranges of Gucci, Hugo Boss, Anna Sui, Hackett and Converse will all be available to try on and purchase, with another free prize draw.

Getting ready for our grand opening week at Aldridge

We're thrilled to say the move at Aldridge has gone very smoothly - thanks in no small part to the wonderful staff there and their determination to make the process as painless as possible.

It has been an extremely hectic six weeks or so, and we are very grateful to both our patients and our staff for bearing with us during the relocation - we're all now looking forward to our grand opening week!

We are all thrilled with our new workplace - and now we want you to see it too. We are inviting patients, old and new, to come along and see our new practice for yourselves.

There will be lots on offer during the week. Besides some nibbles and drinks, and the chance to pick up a free spectacle care kit, we are also offering 20% off all spectacles bought that week.

And with more than 700 frames now on display to choose from, you're bound to find one that's just perfect.

You can also try out some of our swish new equipment if you're buying glasses. The Visioffice allows us to take very precise measurements of your face, and examines just how you wear your glasses and look through them.  It then uses this information to help make a lens to suit your exact needs.  Fantastic.

Or maybe you need to book an eye examination. We are now using an iPad for some of the near-vision testing - the app works brilliantly, and we are delighted with the results.

So please come along if you can, from Monday, October 10th - the celebration will be going on all week, and as well as being able to have a good look around the practice, as always, there will be great access to our staff and any eye health advice or information you may need.

Framin' bargain!

It’s worthwhile having a good delve in your drawers ready for next month’s Big Trade In promotion, as bringing us your old specs could help earn you up to £30 off some new ones.

We want your old frames, and in return we’ll give you £30 off varifocals, £20 off bifocals and £10 off single vision lenses when you buy a complete pair of spectacles from £76.95 and above.

What’s more, if you’re old glasses are still in decent nick and we can reuse them, they will be sent to Vision Aid Overseas, where they can help people in third world countries.

The charity says that 670 million people - 10% of the world's population - are disabled or disadvantaged because they don't have glasses.

Every year, its work – and people’s kind donations – helps send children back to school, enables mothers and father to provide for their families and gives thousands of people the ability to live life with dignity through the power of good sight.

So isn’t that a better use for your old specs then having them gathering dust at home?

So in readiness for the hot weather, our staff have been getting into the spirit of summer with the arrival of some fabulous designer sunglasses and frames.

Ward End May madness a great success

Our May madness event on May 20 and 21 at Ward End was a massive success.

Lots of customers came along to see the new spring collections of Emporio Armani, Pierre Cardin, Gucci and D&G as well as take advantage of the 20% off all orders over the weekend.

The madness continued with face painting, a lucky dip and free prize draw to win a pairof designer sunglasses.

Never forget how important it is to get your children’s eyes checked regularly – as they grow up, changes in their sight can happen quite quickly, and can cause problems with their learning.

Eye tests for youngsters are free, as are many of our spectacles, with an NHS voucher.
